My therapeutic approach is derived from Attachment and other relational theories. This places primary importance on a warm empathic relationship and the creation of a secure base as a lever of therapeutic change. It is within this relationship of mutual trust that healing of early experiences of misattunement, abuse, trauma and loss can take place. As an intersubjective dialogue develops, it is within this non-judgmental relationship that difficulties can be held and understood. This includes a consciousness of the impact of power issues on the relationship.
My practice is underpinned by values of anti-racism, diversity and inclusion. It is informed by contemporary gay affirmative feminist, including transgender perspectives.
